WELCOME NJ (Workforce Education and Life Career Opportunities Mentoring you to Excel) is a 501C3 nonprofit organization that provides workforce development services to youth (14-24 years) and adults (18 + years) with self-imposed or societal barriers to employment. Program services focus on job readiness and personal management skills, employment, education opportunities, wage advancement and career development to better enable individuals to obtain and retain employment and advance in today’s labor market.

WELCOME NJ’s youth program is called Camden Community Connections (CCC). It represents the outgrowth and sustain-ability of a US DOL 2002 Youth Offender Demonstration Program that originated and was directed by the Camden County Workforce Investment Board. The continuation of Camden Community Connections has resulted in an average of 300 at-risk and/or adjudicated youth being serviced annually through after-school, out-of-school and summer youth worker activities. Our results to date which have exceeded funders’ benchmarks have included: high school retention and graduation, attainment of GED’s, part-time, full-time, intern and seasonal employment, community service, entrance into post-secondary education programs, military service, life skills management and career exploration.

WELCOME NJ’s STRIVE/Camden program design consists of an intense three/four week behavioral and attitudinal adjustment job readiness training that focuses on helping participants to help themselves find viable employment that has the potential for job benefits, a career track and wage advancement. Our STRIVE (Support and Training Results in Valuable Employees) program services individuals from varied backgrounds. This program is best suited for individuals who are 18 years and older and ready to engage in full-time or part-time work. This program works with area employers to match employee candidate skills set with employers’ hiring requirements.
